On April 6th the ReUse Study Committee sponsored a booth at the Annandale Business Expo. Visitors to the ReUse Study booth were encouraged to fill out a survey requesting community input for possible future uses of the 1922 School Building. 220 visitors filled out the survery below, and the SURVEY RESULTS are below the sample survey.

1. I think the 1922 Building should be (check all that you agree with):
____ Be demolished, we have no need for this building.
____ Future educational space for the Annandale School Distict.
____ Other educational space (Vocational, higher education, private school, etc.)
____ A Community Center (meeting space, gym, art center, technology, senior center, etc.)
____ Youth First activity space

Survey Results

·         1st Choice Option –  61% - Community Center

·        2nd Choice Option –  30% (about half the number choosing Community Center) a five-way tie - Youth First activity space,  Other educational space,  Future educational space for the Annandale School District,  Mixed Use,  and  Senior Housing

·         2nd Choice Option –  15% - (a two-way tie)  Housing, all ages and Private Business

·         4th Choice Option –  9% - Be demolished

NOTE: The percentages add up to more than 100% because the instructions said "check all that you agree with."

COMMENTS: There were 29 comments written on the survey, though there were no new ideas for the building that weren't variations of the nine options listed. Over a third of the comments (11) were variations on "Save It!" and several others confirmed their support for a Community Center or demolition or keeping it as part of the Middle School.
