Annual Activities Report
April 1, 2006 March 31, 2007

Elected Officers included Kim Holmberg, President; Cindy Ahrens, Vice President: Carmen Merrill, Secretary; Julie Sedey, Treasurer.

Activities Overview

The Clubs objectives continue to be the beautification of Annandale and support of the library.  We planted garden rings and green areas, provided holiday wreaths and fall cornstalks, and contributed to the purchase and maintenance of hanging baskets.  The club supported the library with the purchase of printer supplies and 3 thermal receipt printers.  In October, we joined the Library Board and Friends of Library to celebrate Sandy Ottos 30 year anniversary with the Annandale Library. We continued our membership in the Friends of the Library and the Chamber of Commerce.  In April, we participate in the Business Expo.  The fundraising committee sponsored the printing and successful sale of note cards.  This was the first year that we met all 12 months of the year and the members faithfully attended these meetings as well as the July picnic.  The member directory is updated each year and assists the members in getting to know one another.

Increase awareness and donations were made of:

Womens and childrens undergarments and socks for the St. Cloud Womens Shelter.

General Mills Box Tops, winter hats and mittens, and personal hygiene items for our local schools.

Craft items for Camp Eastview .

       Calling cards for Operation Uplink.

Non-perishable food items for the Annandale Food Shelf.

Books and toys for Share Your Christmas.

Teddy Bears for Camp Amanda .

Care package items for U.S. troops.

Yarn for Wright County Knitting for Others.

Programs and Speakers

Art and Marlene Dingmann explained the usefulness of funeral planning.  A hospice coordinator explained the services available to those who are dying and their families.  The Tea Guy gave a well received introduction to the teas of the world.  Laura Hood Beckman updated us on the workings of the ACT team in our community.  GRRL director, Kirsty Smith reviewed whats new in the library world and Mic Golden peaked our interest with some short book talks.  We laughed and we learned about Wright County Knitting for Others from Marg Lundeen.  The meth problem in Wright County was presented by Commissioner Karla Heeter.  Our holiday outing this year included a trip to Hutchinson to shop, lunch, and view a movie.  The Annandale Behavioral Health Hospital staff informed us of its mission and services.  The juvenile probation program of Wright County was presented to us by Officer Carter Diers.  Merrill Lynch representative, Denise Froehlich shared some financial tips and strategies that we all could use.  An educational year, indeed.

Membership

We were saddened by the death of member, Bev Kiehn.  We had several new members this year which brings our membership to the current total of 97.
