Annual Activities Report

Elected Officers included Sandy Miller, President; Elizabeth Cabalka and Judy Seday, Co-Vice Presidents; Treasurer, Jill Bishop; and Secretary, Marlene Dingmann.

Activities Overview

In April we participated in the Annandale Area Business Expo. The five large planters purchased for the city beautification were placed in the downtown area and the planting was completed in June. The city added fall plants and later filled the planters with winter greens making good use of our investment. We also provided the funds for winter greens placed in hanging baskets through the downtown area. In June we increased our annual dues from $15.00 to $25.00. We spruced up the basement of the pavilion with a good cleaning and touch up.

We moved books from the old library to the new. On July 5th we celebrated the grand opening of the new Annandale Library. We continued to support the Annandale Library with the purchase of a computer and two monitors and becoming members of the newly formed Friends of the Library committee. Several of our members are on the Friends of the Library committee.

In September the following Standing Committees were developed: Library Liaison; Fund Raising; Beautification; Donation Delivery; Member Directory; Program; and Brochure. Canopy poles were decorated with cornstalks in October.

Increased awareness and donations were made of:

  • Craft Supplies for Camp Eastviews summer camp.
  • Box Tops for Education for Annandale schools.
  • Pajamas for the Monticello Womens Shelter.
  • New childrens books were collected for the Share Your Christmas" community project.
  • Hats and mittens for Bendix Elementary Students.
  • Greeting cards for the Annandale Seniors crafts.
