Annual Activities Report
April 1, 2002 March 31, 2003

Elected Officers included Elizabeth Cabalka, President; Sandy Miller and Sandy Otto, Co-ice Presidents; Treasurer, Jill Bishop; and Secretary, Marlene Dingmann.

Activities Overview

Through out the past year much of our talents and energy were focused on fund raising for the completion of a new Library. We-cosponsored a raffle of a Chevrolet Suburban, hosted a book fair, art tour and ice cream social. Blue ribbons were sold raising community awareness. Three of our members served on the overall New Library committee. Our role as "Friends of the Library" for the past 100 years will officially pass to a committee from the Annandale community. Although we will continue to support the library, our role will be changing and broadening to include more involvement in benefit of the city.

In April, our first participation in hosting a booth at the Business Expo was a huge success. Cornstalk decorations were placed in the downtown business district in October and in December we purchased Christmas Wreaths for the downtown area. In January we committed ourselves to the Citys beautification project by purchasing 5 permanent planters. The planters will be placed throughout the community and changed out three seasons of the year.

Increased awareness and donations were made of

  • Hats, mittens, and soup labels for Bendix Elementary
  • Pajamas, socks, and underwear for St. Cloud Womens Shelter
  • Childrens toys and books to Share Your Christmas
  • Recycled greeting cards for Annandale Seniors
  • Valentine cards for Care Center residents
  • Non-perishable food items for the Annandale Food Shelf
  • Box Tops for Education for the Youth First Program
  • Craft supplies for Camp Eastview summer program

Membership

During the year we were saddened by the death of member Audrey Down and honorary member, Minnie Cheney. We have 5 new members and currently have 72 members.
