Heart of the Lakes Trail Meeting
Minutes
Wednesday, July 6, 2005

 Renee and Connie met at Annandale Care Center .  Future meeting agendas will take the same form as indicated in these minutes.  If a committee members name is next to an item, that member needs to be prepared to report on that item at the next meeting.  For instance, under Community Interaction Reports, Renee is planning to speak to Mark Casey and will be prepared to report on their discussion at the next meeting.  If a task has not yet been completed, the member should indicate that the project is still in progress.  Please do not avoid attending a meeting because a task has not yet been completed.  Questions may be directed to Connie or Renee.

 I.        Community Interaction Reports

                    A.      Government Meetings

                                         1.       Renee talked to Mark Casey about the comp plan for land use.  There is a meeting July 21^st.  Mark recommends that we wait until after that meeting before we get involved.

                                         2.       Renee also spoke to Mark about developing standards for bike trails; developers trails need to have standards.

                                         3.       July 26^th is the next planning and zoning meeting; committee members are welcome to attend.

                                         4.       Renee mailed a letter to South Haven about attending a meeting on July 7^th; she has not received a reply but plans to attend.

                                         5.       To Dos, Check with Carol on Lake John Association

Check with Marilyn on league of Minnesota cities and assoc. of small cities.

                     B.       Landowners/Community members

                                         1.       Connie spoke with Adelle Seanor and informed of meeting times.

                                        2.       All members can report on any contact(s).

                     C.       Other Groups

                                         1.       Contact Clearwater Bike group to visit.

                                        2.       Elizabeth is checking on a visit from people from Trust for Public Lands.

II.      Fundraising Efforts

                     A.      Concession Stands at Friday night concerts.  Members are needed to work on Friday July 8^th, 22^nd and August 12^th.  Need to be at park by 6 p.m.

                     B.       Sponsorships/Donations.  No current information available

 III.     Public Relations, media contacts

                     A.      Letter to the Editor Writing campaign.  Renee will write a letter about a child who was hit.

                     B.       Brochures and hand-outs.  Sharon will bring a brochure to the next meeting.

 IV.     Grant Writing Updates

 At Septembers meeting will focus on revising the grant; members are encouraged to attend.  Renee will invite Mike Mattise.

 V.      Other

 We would like to discuss forming a bike club; a fun group which would do bike rides together.
