The chart below defines the various roles of the entities that work together to support the Annandale Area Public Library and enable it to function smoothly as it should.

Responsibilities:

  Local staff: Librarian & Library Aide. Salaries paid by GRRL.

  Books and all circulated material are owned and maintained by GRRL with some items being maintained as part of Annandale's permanent collection.

  Library Technology: owned locally and maintained by GRRL.

Definition:

A city-appointed "statutory" (follows a MN Statute) seven-member board with a slate of officers; four members must be city residents. Statutory status provides the Board (not the city) with financial control over funds raised or donated to the Library Board.  A board member may serve two (2) consecutive three-year terms. 

Responsibilities: 

  Steward of the building. 

  Support librarian and liaison with GRRL.

  Empower the Friends.

  Maintain an excellent working relationship and communication with the City of Annandale.

Definition:

A 501c3 self-appointed advocacy group governed by a four member slate of officers.

Responsibilities:

  Publicity/ Newsletter/ Communication

  Fundraising 

  Volunteering at the Library 

  Library Programs 

  Membership/Recruitment 

  Advocacy

  Hospitality/Refreshments

 

Responsibilities:

  Ownership and up-keep of the library building, furnishings, & grounds.

Fiscal Agent for Library Board (Segregated fund of the City, subject to rigorous audits, all public information.)
