Meeting Minutes - June 11, 2013
Co-President Cheryl Olson called the meeting to order at 7pm with 16 members
present.
The minutes from the March 19, 2013 meeting were read with a motion to accept,
MSP (Sally/Sandy). Dean gave
the Treasurer's report.
Report filed, subject to audit.

Librarian Report
March High $5 Month – Region collected $15,046, Annandale collected $242, $96.80
will be put into the Annandale Gift Fund.
Legacy News: Thanks to all those who
contacted their legislators. The
committee has agreed
Doug Ohman Photo Collage: Doug is
working on a 20x30 photo collage of the old and current library.
Annandale Improvement Club has offered to pay for this purchase.
Read Down Your Fines: New program
introduced by GRRL to help children under the age of 16
pay down their fines by reading at the library the last week of June.
Every 15 minutes of reading will deduct $1 from their fine total.
Carla may be looking for volunteers to help with this.
Connie Kuehn Memorial. Another
stained glass window will be purchased for the children’s area
2013 Summer Reading
Program: This program, Dig Into Reading, began on June 10th.
Gift certificates have been donated by Subway, Dairy Queen and McDonalds.
74 children and 5 babies have registered.
Teen Program - Beneath the Surface:
20 registered teens have an opportunity to win a Nook E-reader and a
Barnes and Noble gift card.
Sunshine Story Time: Lonnie hosted
58 children and adults at today’s first story time.
Summer Calendar: FOL purchased an
ad in the Advocate featuring the library’s summer events.
Annandale Online: Thanks to Jill
Bishop for keeping library events up to date.
Old Business
2013 Business Expo, April 13th:
Well attended again this year.
Book Sale Update: Ron distributed
sign-up sheets for volunteers.
Help is needed every Tuesday morning at 9am for sorting.
Set up will be Friday June 28th at 1:00 pm and the sale
David Housewright Author Dinner Recap:
Although we didn’t sell the 100 tickets needed
to make a
profit, our loss this year was only $13.68.
Summer Story Time: Sally is
presenting story time on Wednesdays in July at Knollwood and
and the Kimball Park, and Saturday mornings at the Farmer’s Market.
Community Read Project: Kathy and
Sally will be meeting to discuss this year’s choice,
Also,
if we
would again purchase some of the books, and if it would be adults only.
New Business
2014 Author Event: Discussion as
to whether we should continue these dinners, not as a source of revenue, but as
a community event. Also, if it
would be possible to coordinate with the Community Read book choice at some
point. Cheryl will check with William Kent Krueger to see if he is available for
May 16th, 2014. She
MALF Update: Evy Nordley Award,
Sally is submitting an entry from the Annandale FOL featuring the bike give away
for K-5th grade readers.
FOL membership – how do we increase?
Discussion tabled until September meeting.
