Meeting Minutes - June 12, 2012
Co-President Cheryl Olson called the meeting to order at 7pm with 19 members present. The minutes from the March 27, 2012 meeting were read with a motion to accept, (MSP Ed/Sally). Minutes will be emailed to all members, and published on annandaleonline.com
Dean gave the Treasurer's report. Report filed, subject to audit.
Librarian Report
Carla reported on the Library memorial, which was donated by Pete Wilder and Judy Grabham and installed in the children’s area by Michael’s Stain Glass Studio on June 8th.
The summer Reading Program began June 4 and runs through August 4th. The theme is “Dream Big Read”. 12 babies are registered, 100 3-12 year olds and 17 teens.
A motion was made, seconded and passed (Cindy/Ed) to allocated up to $2000 for Carla to purchase signage, posters, big book cart, etc.
Summer Calendar of Events has been printed and distributed to patrons.
Volunteers needed for Make and Take programs on 6/29 and 7/27: 10-11am. Please contact Carla.
Date change for Minnesota Zoo: August 22nd, 6:30 - 7:30.

Checking on a distribution list for members who are gone during the winter and would like to receive a copy of the Librarian’s Report.
Old Business
2012 Business Expo: Magnets with library hours were a success. Need to set up one additional table in the future.
Book Sale Update: Ron distributed sign up sheets for set-up on June 29th at 12:30 and for the day of the sale: June 30th 8 - noon. Sorting continues on Tuesdays at 9. Julie and Jan F will cashier on the day of the sale.
Community Read Project: Sally will coordinate the October Community Read. Suggested book is “To Kill a Mockingbird“, and youth titles with similar subject matter. $1000 dedicated (MSP Cindy/Ed) to get this underway. Kathy Holahan has volunteered to help Sally. More information to follow.
Story Time Update - Sally. The program runs from 7/11 to 8/1 at Elm Grove and Knollwood. Barb O and Elizabeth C have volunteered to help. Also, Sally will be at the Farmer’s Market on Saturday mornings.
Author Event: Thanks to Cindy, Marian, Cheryl, Sandy, Ron and everyone who helped make this a success. 82 enjoyed dinner with Erin Hart. Cindy circulated pictures taken and articles published in the Advocate.
New Business
Author Dinner 2013: David Housewwright will be next year’s author. He is a St. Paul native and his newest book is “The Curse of the Jade Lily”. Cindy, Cheryl and Julie will chair the 2013 Author Dinner.
Clock Tower Park: FOL will donate $150 for a paver, MSP (Cindy/Dean)
Stain Glass Art for Children’s Area: Julie Sedey will ask the Advocate to do an article and feature a picture of the new window. Additional panoramic panels will be available to purchase as memorials or honorariums.
Table Purchase: Ron asked that we purchase 10 tables to be used for the annual Book Sale. MSP up to $1200 (Jan F/Cindy)
Gala ticket purchase: Cheryl will return these tickets to the Chamber of Commerce.
