Friends of the Library
Committees
Active Friends may serve on one of the following committees:
- Fundraising: Investigate fundraising opportunities in support of
library needs (programs, equipment, furnishings), plan and coordinate
library fundraising activities (e.g. book sale, cookbook sale, etc.).
- Volunteering at the Library: Fill out and submit a volunteer
application form -- with coordination by library staff, volunteers are
needed for shelving materials, adopt-a-shelf volunteer, library displays and
bulletin boards, computer assistant/trainer, and many more opportunities.
- Library Programs: In consultation with library staff, with Friends
funding, look at options for library programs (for children, teen and
adults, like a magician, a puppet show, an author reading, teen grooming
tips, searching the Internet, etc.); committee members will also volunteer
and supervise the programs.
- Advocacy: For those interested in promoting the library as a viable
and essential service to the community; might involve legislative letter
writing in support of library funding at the state level, or visiting the
Annandale City Council or surrounding Township meetings to encourage ongoing
support of the library; consider attending Library Legislative Day in St.
Paul (usually in February or March each year); continue advocating for the
library as an integral part of the education and recreation in our
community.
