Librarian’s Report:   Carla distributed “Library Year in Review” which highlighted last year’s Summer Reading Program, Legacy Programming, Free Ticket Program, the Minnesota Zoo, and the Winter Reading Program “Escape into Reading”.   Carla also submitted a calendar of Summer Events.

 - 2013 Summer Reading Program:  ‘Dig Into Reading’ for children and ‘Beneath the Surface’ for teens, which run from June 10th

to August 10th.  Lonnie Davis will present the six storytimes this summer.

-  FOL purchased a book cart to store Big Books in the children’s area.

- Staff Update: Jolene Forsberg resigned as  branch  assistant for Annandale and Kimball,  and Lonnie Davis took over in November.

 -  Mic Golden retired after 30 years with GRRL.  Jacob Grussing has been hired as the new Collection Development Coordinator.

-  Connie Kuehn Memorial:  Memorial gifts will be used to purchase another stained glass window in the children’s area.

-  March High $5: The region collected $15,046.  Annandale collected $242, and $96.80 will be deposited into the Annandale

   Gift Fund at GRRL.

- Brandi Canter:  The proposed budget will be presented to the Great River Board of Trustee’s late May and the amended version will be presented in July.  Library Legacy Funding is in danger and may be reduced by 2/3 per Senator Cohen and will reduce the amount each branch receives by $1000.  She asked that we contact our Senator to support the House’s more generous budget, and get great art to every library.

Brandi presented the “Read  Down Your Fines Program”.  This program will give children and teens with fines on their library cards an opportunity to pay off  those fines by reading at the library.  We discussed if and how the FOL and Improvement Club could donate funds to offset these fines. Carla may need volunteers to help June 24th – 29th.

Brandi also spoke to fundraising.   The Library’s Support the Library page includes a “Donate Now” online donation process.
