Members Present: Cindy Ahrens, Ron Remington, Julie Olson, Joelle Artl, Karen Spiegeler, Julie Sedey, Mark Casey (City) Joan Allen (GRRL), Dawn Schaefer Stumpf (Programming)  Members absent: Denise Safranek , Sandy Otto, Librarian

Review of the Agenda:  Remove Technology from the agenda.   MSP (Joelle, Julie O.) to approve agenda.

Secretarys Report: MSP (Ron, Karen) to approve corrected minutes.

Financial Report: no activity.  Balance at $1553.91.  Insurance needed for the artwork in the library has been submitted to the insurance company.

 Librarians Report: no report

GRRL Report: Joan reported the Governor signed the Education Bill and regular libraries should get increased funding that will hopefully help add more staff.  Kristi has been meeting with board members.  Wireless should start this year.  The new library in St. Cloud is scheduled to open in 2008.

Programming Report:  Summer programs are all set.  Jill Healy and Dawn will each lead three programs.  The first program will start with bananas and the last will have animal crackers.  The new easel is wonderful.  It has pegs to hold an open book.

FOL Report:  Ron reported that the author dinner was a success.  Next years event will be at the same time as this year.  Books for the booksale will be sorted and stacked in the seniors room.  A Paynesville bookstore will pick up the leftover books.  FOL, Improvement Club and the Library Board will meet at Sandy Ottos for a potluck picnic July 12 at noon.  The next FOL meeting will be on Aug. 21.

Art Committee Dawn, Ron, and Julie O.

Maureen Fisher, a local teacher, will have an art exhibit at the library this summer.  There is a chance we might get to display two of Julia Barkleys paintings in the childrens area.

Publicity Committee - Cindy, Karen, Ron,

An ad was put in local newspapers advertising the book sale.  There will be no mid-summer ad.  A fall ad will publicize the fall programs at the library.  The committee is thinking of having an adult program with the author of Girlfriends Getaway or author Stan Tekiela.

Old Business:

A DVD was viewed from the Rural Sustainability workshop.  Because many families do not have a computer at home, they use one at the libraries.  It provides children with the technology theyll need in their future jobs.  Elizabeth Cabalka will be speaking at the MLA Conference

New Business:

Think about reimbursing board members interested in attending the MLA Conference in Mankato on Oct. 25.

The next meeting will be Sept. 6, at 4:00 p.m.

MSP (Joelle, Julie O.) to adjourn.

Respectfully Submitted,
Julie Sedey, Secretary
