Review of the Agenda:

Secretarys Report: MSP (Karen, Ron) to accept corrected minutes.

Financial Report no report

Librarians Report: Sandy reported that at the library on April, 30 children and 9 adults attended the Magic Tree story hour from GRRL, 36 children visited from Head Start, 7 people volunteered 42 hours and the non-GRRL computer was used 56 times.  She listened to a number of books, including authors Laurie King, Garrison Keillor, Geraldine Brooks, Dick Francis, Donna Leon and Jeffery Deaver.

GRRL Report:  Joan reported that Heidi, the Youth Service Coordinator resigned.  It was sad to see her go because she did a very good job.  Because Hennepin and Minneapolis will now be merging, there will be less money for regional systems.  Adding hours will probably not be possible.  Elk River will open a new library in 2007 and St. Cloud in 2008.  GRRL will now pay for WiFi in all their libraries Annandale city will no longer need to pay.  There is hope to create a laptop lab.  Donated devices for kilowatt measurement of appliances will be loaned out at the library.  She suggested inviting director Kristy Smith to a meeting in September or October.

Programming Report: Dawn reported on the themes and dates chosen for the summer programs.  They will be on the 3rd Saturday and the 3rd Tuesday.  Karen will contact the newspaper before each event.  The FOL will donate bananas and animal crackers.  Cindy has a friend who is a clown that will do face painting.  The FOL is purchasing an easel and $150 in new puppets.  Jill Healy will help with some summer programs.

FOL Report: Ron reported that the author dinner for May 11 is all set.  Dean Cheney did posters for the book sale on June 30.  Books will be sorted on Tuesdays starting June 5.  The 501c3 has been sent in and could take 2 months or more to get approved.

Art Committee Dawn, Ron, and Julie O.

The high school art is up.  Dawn will be meeting with Mary Barkley Brown to decide on a Julia Barkley painting for the childrens area of the librarysomething very colorful and bright.  The committee needs a source for money to purchase some Pottery Barn picture frames for childrens art.  A draft of the library art inventory was submitted.  The total value is approximately $22,500.  Some are for sale and will be advertised in the book sale ads.

Publicity Committee - Cindy, Karen, Ron

The newspaper did a nice job in formatting the April ad.  There was also an ad in the community section for the book sale.  Cindy sent the author dinner ad to the Clearwater Tribune-no charge.

 Technology no report

 Old Business:

Cindy reported that the MN Rural Library Sustainability workshop was geared more toward staff people.  There will be a condensed version of the workshop at the MLA Conference.  An interesting web site where library staff meet to share ideas online is webjunction.org.

New Business:

For future thought, Cindy suggested having Annandale Library orientations.  City and township council members could be invited to raise awareness of what libraries are all about.

On June 19 the Zoo man will bring animals to the library before the program.

The next meeting will be June 7, at 4:00 p.m.

MSP (Julie O., Karen) to adjourn.

Respectfully Submitted,
Julie Sedey, Secretary
