Meeting Minutes
October 5, 2006
Members
Present: Ron Remington, Julie Sedey, Karen Spiegeler, Joelle Arlt,
(Programming). Members absent: Jill
Bishop, Denise Safranek and Mark Casey (City)
Review
of the Agenda:
Removed Communications Committee from the agenda.
MSP (Cindy, Karen) to approve corrected agenda.
Secretarys
Report:
2 corrections were made. MSP
(Cindy, Karen) to accept the corrected minutes.
Financial
Report: The
balance is $2,230.67 ($45.05 Net Filter). MSP
(Karen, Joelle) to accept the financial report.
Librarians
Report: Sandy
reported that this week at the library volunteers would count every person who
comes through the door. After school
hours have been very busy. E-mail
notification is now available for holds. The
receipt printer will now print out request information.
Technology
Report:
No report
GRRL
Report: Joan reported that October
is a very busy time. GRRL has
started an e-mail notification system, Oct. 1st is count week at all
libraries and the receipt printer now prints request transit receipts.
The 3 days of the MLA Conference she attended had great sessions and
speakers. Maple Lake made a
presentation to the GRRL Board on their hopes of getting a new library.
FOL
Report: (complete report in secretarys book) Cindy
reported that she and Bonnie attended the one-day sessions at the MLA Conference
and she has information on some new Friends projects.
Cindy has become the co-chair of the Trustees group.
The National Public Library Association Convention will be in Minneapolis
in 2008. The FOL author event is
scheduled for May 11, 2007 and will feature K. J. Erickson, a mystery writer.
The best news is she doesnt charge a fee.
The FOL also hopes to have author and medical examiner Dr. Janis Amatuzio
come to Annandale for an evening adult program.
They also would like to start a teen book club where attendees would
discuss recent books they have read. The
Kimball Friends will hold their author event on Nov. 10, 2006 at the Playland
Ballroom.

Julie
asked members for ideas for candidates, which live in the city limits, for the
vacant board position. Names will be
presented at the November meeting.

Art Committee - Jill,
Dawn, Ed, and Ron
The
committee will be meeting Oct. 12.

Publicity Committee -
Cindy, Karen, Ron, Bonnie and Ed
Cindy
reported that the next ad would be in the Oct. 10th Advocate.
There will be an article on Sandys anniversary celebration, an opening
on the Library Board, childrens programs and some of Sandys favorite
books. They plan to have ads in June
and in the fall.

Programming Dawn (complete draft in the secretarys book)
Dawn
presented a draft of programs to be held on the third Saturday of each month
during the school year. GRRL will
lead some of the programs. Current
information will be put in the Advocate.
* Open House
Committee Cindy, Ron, Julie and Sally Smith
Joelle
and Ariana will be interviewing Sandy on Oct. 6.
The interview will be between 5-10 minutes and will be burned to a DVD.
The City Council will be declaring Oct. 25th as Sandy Otto
Day.

The committee would be meeting October 24.
