Librarians Report: A new assistant, Janice Fossum has been hired.  She will work Wednesday from 3:00 to 6:00 and every other Saturday.

Technology Report: no report.

GRRL Report: Joan reported that she has been very busy interviewing for new assistant positions.  Also she explained that red dot books are new books or first time purchased books.  They were usually shelved separately but Sandy has decided to integrate them with the rest.  Joan will be meeting with Sandy to discuss different open hour schedules.  Sandy feels that there should be hours available on Thursdays.

FOL Report: Cindy e-mailed a report that posters for the author event have been sent to the other branch libraries.  Some tickets and author books have been sold.  The next FOL meeting will be April 11.  Annandale and Monticello are co-hosting a Friends workshop on April 22, from 9-13 at the Monticello Library.  Share Your Successes will be one of the topics.  Julie reported on the Friends Meet Friends meeting, held in St. Cloud on Monday, March 16.  The Monticello friends told how their group was started, their successes and problems.  Other friends shared similar stories.  Vern is setting up an e-mail advocacy group to contact legislators when various library issues arise. (Entire report available in secretarys book)

Old Business

Art Committee - Jill, Dawn, Ed, and Ron

The Elwyn Nordberg photography display has been hung and should be up for a couple of months.  Their next meeting is April 4.

Publicity Committee - Cindy, Karen, Ron, Bonnie, and Ed

Ron reported that the first article for the Advocate will explain what the Library Board does, what FOL are about and how much it costs to join, and that the library is more than just booksits music, movies, special programs, and computer use.  The article will be a quarter page, appearing quarterly, starting April 4. The FOL group will pay for the first article.  Ideas for future articles may be sent to Karen.

Community Survey Committee Denise, Julie

Denise reported that Joan has sent some examples of surveys that other libraries have used.  They will meet with Joan and Sandy to re-assess the current open hours.  Three possible areas to be addressed in the survey could be open hour schedulesasking people what they prefer, long range planning or goals and adult/children programming.  It will be available this summer.

Programming-Dawn

The Saturday programs meet the first Saturday on the month and have had 3-12 children present.  The quality of the leaders has been excellent.  The second Saturday in May will be the last one. There was a small group for the "Reading with your Beginning Reader", probably because it was Ash Wednesday.  Kits are coming from the National Dear Organization for our drop everything and read program on April 12.  (Entire report available in secretarys book)

Library signage - Jill reported that our application to request permission to put signs with the library symbol on Hwy 55 for both eastbound and westbound traffic was denied by the District Traffic Engineer.  Jill will check with the sign company and Mark will check with the Lions group to see if we can put a library sign on the kiosk or near the memorial park.

New Business

Scrapbook Jill, Joelle

Jill and Joelle have taken inventory on items we have that could go into a library scrapbook.  Jill brought some original articles about how 5 ladies from Improvement Club started a library with 500 books.  They recommended starting with the current status and working back in history when they have the time.

Next meeting will be April 27 at 4:00. MSP (Denise/Jill) to adjourn.

Respectfully Submitted,
Julie Sedey, Secretary
