Minutes
April 21, 2005
*Members Present:
Elizabeth Cabalka, Julie Sedey, Jill Bishop, Ron Remington, Sally
Smith, Karen Spiegeler, Dawn Schaefer Stumpf (program advisor), Joan Allen (GRRL),
Cindy Ahrens (FOL)
*Review of Agenda:
Motion MSP (Elizabeth, Karen) to approve.
*Secretarys Report:
Motion MSP (Julie,
Elizabeth
) to approve.
*Library Financials:
Mark Casey not present but there are no changes from last month.
*Librarians Report:
Elizabeth
reported that 32 attended a popup story time.
Sandy
has created a calendar on Yahoo for volunteer signups.
Sandy
needs some official library stationery. Ron
will take care of that with Kathy W.
*GRRL Report:
Joan reported that the Yahoo calendar is a useful tool.
She explained some of the databases that are available in the library
and she will demo them to the board and other interested people at our next
meeting.
*Friends of the Library
Report: Cindy reported the success of their Expo booth.
The author event was also successful with 110 tickets being sold
showing a profit of approximately $317. She
also reported on a library advocacy type workshop attended by Cindy, Julie and
others that provided them with valuable information.
The Friends are holding a book sale on July 2nd.
The next FOL meetings are May 10th and June 14th.
*Old Business:
- Building
Issues
Elizabeth
will Email Mark with concerns about the ventilation on Wednesday nights.
The hanging system is not installed as yet.
- Art
WorkAn FOL member is still needed to participate on the Art Work
committee.
- Goals
& Focus of Library BoardWe reviewed the Support Network
document. Jill can put it
online.
- Annandale
OnLine, Wish List, & TechnologyJill presented a Donations
Suggestions document. After
much discussion, we decided that an additional bullet should be added
Donate to the Annandale Library.
- Grant
ApplicationsNo report.
- Book
of Donors and StationeryRon has updated the book.
Kathy W. will print us some stationery.
- GenealogyA
discussion was held concerning the plan to have Community Ed offer a fall
class given by a rep from GRRL and a person from the Buffalo Historical
Society. Class info needs to be turned into Community Ed by July 1.
- Program
AdvisorDawn reviewed her ideas and advised us that she needed to
have her programs on a calendar for
Sandy
by May 13.
*New Business:
- Wright
County Community Health Foundation has donated a defibrillator to the
library. They will also
provide training as long as the staff is willing to use it if needed.
Next meeting will be
Thursday, June 16th at
10 a.m.
in the library.
