Annandale Area Library Board

Meeting Minutes

October 21, 2004

 

Members Present:  Jill Bishop, Elizabeth Cabalka, Kathy Wenngatz, Sally Smith, Ron Remington, Julie Sedey, Mark Casey (City), Cindy Ahrens (FOL), Joan Allen (GRRL)

 

*Review of Agenda:  Motion MSP (Elizabeth, Julie) to approve agenda.

 

*Secretarys Report:  Motion MSP (Elizabeth, Jill) to approve report.

 

*Library Financials:  Mark explained the operational budget form.  Balance is $6224.01.  Motion MSP (Sally, Ron) to approve.

 

*Librarians Report:  
1)Per Jill, the library will be closed on November 3rd and 4th to implement the new computer system and budget savings as well.  
2)Per Mark the tinting of the west windows will cost $5 per square foot.  He will check the measurements and the council could vote on the expenditure on November 1st.  
3)There is still a problem with the south door handle and lock.  Refer to Joe.  
4)There is some evidence of roof leaks.  Elizabeth will inform Joe via Mark.

 

*GRRL Report:  

1)Joan reports the Advocacy Workshop will be here on Tuesday 10/26.  
2)Books in a Bag program sets can be purchased for about $100.  
3)Adult winter reading program is Read Your Way Across the USA which will run for 9 weeks starting in January.

 

*Friends of Library Report:  Members discussed disbursement of the funds in the Library Board account to the FOL.  This item will be determined in the future.  Motion MSP (Elizabeth, Julie) to authorize up to $1100 to establish friends as a 501c3.  Mark recommends that we issue a memorandum of intent to be kept as a permanent record.  We will do that as we work on the division.  Cindy and others are working on the Friends By-Laws.  Elizabeth and Jill are working on the Library Board By-Laws.  Motion MSP (Jill, Ron) to approve $23 to be paid to Cindy for a Friends mailing.

        Cindy asked about newspaper coverage of Library news.  We discussed the possibilities.
