Annandale Area Library Board
Meeting Minutes
June 11, 2003 4:00 PM City Hall
*Members present: Jill Bishop, Sally Smith, Betty Anderson, Kathy Wenngatz,
Elizabeth Cabalka, Stephanie Rindelaub, Dick Anderson (Ex-offico), Marlene Young
(guest)
*Received agendaadded technology update and time capsule to the agenda
*Secretarys Report: Motion made (Stephanie), seconded (Betty), and passed
to approve the minutes of the May 28, 2003 meeting. Agreed that copies of
minutes will be in the Library Board binder in city hall.
*Library Building Financials: $505 in new donations was recently received
giving us a balance of +1,526.95 plus some interest.
*Old Business
- Yahoo Briefcase is up and available to board members "Annandalelibraryboard"
The password will be available to board members but not the public. Thanks,
Jill!
- FurnishingsKim will bring the chairs and stain tomorrow. Shelving is
not here yet. A childrens table has some scratching on it that we need to
talk to Kim about. Sandy has requested a wastebasket for the public to useDick
and Betty will shop for one.
- Construction status and punch listVaughn, Kathy & Jill met on
6/6/03. The light fixture in the childrens area will remain ($500 to
replace). Kathy will check on doing something about the exposed cord. Board
discussed A/C (being addressed), bathroom door lock, lock on door between
city hall and library, landscaping and parking lot. Mary D. will ask Jeff
Herr to keep an eye on rails.
- Moving party went well. Sally will send a thank you to the Improvement for
providing the treats.
- Grand OpeningJill is handling publicity with a handout, website,
sandwich board, and Advocate. Marlene Young presented the Advocates idea
of a Contractors page in the July 2nd issuegreat and
generous idea. We will also use the kiosk and Stephanie will make some
signs. The invitations are out thanks to Betty. Additional invitations will
be sent to Wold, Shingobee, City Council, Sam, GRRL, Mic, Joan, Vern
Mattson, Ed Stracke. Elizabeth will see that they are sent. Betty agreed to
allow the library to use her drawing of the library on note cards. Kathy
will print some. Elizabeth is handling the food and suggested cake, cookies,
bars, ice cream cups, coffee, water, and lemonade. She will contact Reichels,
Blue Water, Marketplace and Subway about donating some of the items. New
Annandale royalty will be in attendance and Marian Nelson has agreed to
bring helium balloons. Schedule is as follows: 10:30 band, 10:45
presentation, 11:00 band again followed by treats and tours. Dick will take
care of getting corsages for Steering Committee, Sandy, Stephanie, Sam and
Mary D. We will ask Joe Hill to take down the thermometer before the 5th.
- Friends of---Do we want to start before the grand openingprobably not
but we could have a handout (Stephanie will make) and a sign-up at the
opening. Dick volunteered to serve as a liaison for the Friends and Board.
- Wright Hennepin has sent an apology for the error in the newsletter. Other
funding is in the works for technologySchwabel has committed for $500,
Dick will work on the Walmart grant, and Jill will continue to pursue
Target.
- AdvocateSally spoke to Sharon about changing our week to July 2nd
and that will work. Sharon also agreed to let the Friends of the Library
take over the column until December.
- Honoring SandyThe fountain will be installed on June 13 and the rocks
will be put in by July 5th.
- Library SignageDean Cheney is doing some inside signs. Outside signs
are on hold.
- Wish ListSandy will create a list for Friends to work on.
- Time Capsule on hold.
- Technology Updatenothing new except we need $$
New Business:
Library door and City Hall door accessafter much discussion, we
decided to try leaving them open even when city hall is closed. Mary will talk
to Sandy.
