Ada Dawson
1920-2009

She was born near Blairsburg, IA on May 10, 1920 to Alfred and Ella Burnham. She
grew up in the rural areas of central Iowa. Ada and Wilmer 'Babe' Dawson were
married on July 25, 1939 in Clarion, Iowa. They lived in Iowa and Minnesota
throughout their life together. Ada was a devoted wife and loving mother who
worked hard at various jobs all her life. She and her husband were owners of
Lake Sylvia Store from 1960 to the early '70s. Ada was an accomplished artist,
art instructor and sign painter. Her commissioned art hangs in private
collections throughout the United States. Ada has had her poetry and prose
published. She volunteered many hours and took leadership roles in various
community projects and at the Annandale United Methodist Church. She was a
founding member of Lake Country Creative Art Group.
She is survived by her son, Ollie (Kay) of Hot Springs, AR; daughters, Diana
(Allan) Bajari of French Lake and Wanda (Dwayne) Lamprecht of St. Cloud; nine
grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren;
brother, Francis (Julia) Burnham of Forest City, IA; sisters-in-law, Evelyn
Dawson and Mary (Bob) Struthers. She is preceded in death by her husband, Babe;
daughter, Eva Kay; granddaughter, Riika Bajari; and brothers, Arthur and
Wendell.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at the
Annandale United Methodist Church. Rev. Marilee Benson and Rev. Ken Felska will
officiate and burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8
p.m. Tuesday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale and one hour prior
to the service, Wednesday at the church.
Her grandchildren and great grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Sharon
Planer, pianist and Mike Sommers, soloist will provide the music for the
