Bike Rodeo

Saturday, May 17, 2008
10:00 a.m.
Annandale High School Parking Lot

Lakedale Communications and the Annandale Police will hold a free bike rodeo for children to instruct them on proper bike safety, maintenance, hand signals, and riding etiquette. There will be a bike inspection from Scheel's Sports along with refreshments, prizes including two bikes, and a five station bike course.

  • Station I - The Balance Test develops the balance skill of each participant.
  • Station II - The Diminishing Clearance Test develops each participants ability to drive a bicycle through a narrowing space.
  • Station III - The Obstacle Test develops the riders ability to control the bicycle while avoiding obstacles on the road.
  • Station IV - The Intersection Turn Test develops the riders ability to make a safe left turn at a busy intersection.
  • Station V - The Change in Balance Test develops the riders ability to maintain balance in both a clockwise and counter-clockwise direction. This also allows the rider to experience the sensation of leaning to initiate a turn and counter steering to end a turn.

Parents are encouraged to attend with their children.
