Elected Officers included Sandy Miller, President; Elizabeth Cabalka and Julie Sedey, Co-Vice Presidents; Treasurer, Kim Holmberg; Secretary, Sally Smith.

Activities Overview

Throughout the year, we have continued to contribute to the beautification of Annandale with funding and labor.  Some projects include garden rings, city green areas, hanging baskets and fall cornstalks.  During the spring months, the sale of Annandale Main Street prints was held and brought in significant funds to continue with our library and beautification projects.  In April, we participated in the Annandale Expo.  The first modern day Improvement Club summer picnic was held in July.  The club supported the library by donating the money needed for an additional computer.  We also joined the Friends of the Library as partners in our shared dedication to the library.  A member directory was created this year as a wonderful resource to get to know and reach out to each other.

Increased awareness and donations were made of:

  • Womens and childrens undergarments, socks, and pajamas for the St. Cloud Womens Shelter.
  • Box Tops for Education and winter hats and mittens for our local schools.
  • Calling cards for Operation Uplink.
  • Items for troops in medical facilities in Iraq .
  • Craft items for Camp Eastview .
  • Non-perishable items for Annandale Food Shelf.
  • Books and toys for Share Your Christmas

Programs and Speakers

Deb Jussila presented an overview of the fiber industry emphasizing weaving and spinning.  Vicki Morgan of Creative Memories explained the history of her business and demonstrated some scrapbooking tricks.  Nancy Dart showed us a slide show of Lake Maria State Park and the facilities and programs available there.  Law enforcement officers discussed the dangers of identity theft and offered helpful suggestions to avoid being a victim of this crime.  Nutrition tips and healthy meal ideas were presented by dietitian Julie Starke.  A field trip was taken to the Plymouth Playhouse to see The Lovely Liebowitz Sisters  Carol Schmit led us through the history of Clares Well and the services provided there.  Diane Graphenteen discussed Friendship Ventures and explained the process of operating the much loved camp.  Laura Hood Beckman presented the timeline and mission of the Snooty Fox Gallery that now occupies the old library building.
