Improvement Club
The Annandale Improvement Club submits the following report if its
activities for the fiscal year ending May 1, 1945.
As the year started many plans were made for the use of
funds accumulated from the paper drives and other sources, for the
benefit of the entire community. Committees
were appointed to handle the several projects agreed upon.
The Village Council gave $75 to be added to the Library fund.
Among other things accomplished are, the building of two fireplaces, four
weatherproof tables which are placed near the driveway and the shoreline at the
village park, trees and shrubs for rest room grounds.
Ten shade trees of large size have been purchased for the park to be set
near the fireplaces. The Club has
given $10.00 to the Red Cross, $2.00 to the Cancer Drive, $25.00 to the Kenney
fund and $4.50 to the March of Dimes. The
first paper drive of the year netted $301.11 and the 2nd drive netted
$89.21.
Cost of fireplaces was $45.45, tables, $52.15, trees and shrubs for rest
room grounds $13.50, for ten large shade trees in the park $66.00.
The Library has 1745 books on hand and
the Club paid $25 for subscriptions to best magazines.
At present 96 adults and 30 children have library cards.
The number greatly increases in the summer when tourists are here.
The programs given by the Club have all been interesting and instructive. Adelaide Smith, Secretary
