Improvement Club
APRIL--New books purchased; Voted to continue to serve Ioct; 3 dozen
teaspoons purchased; lunch; Annual reports read and accepted; Voted to have them
printed in the Advocate; Voted to redeposit amount due on Certificate of
Deposit; Officers for the ensuing year elected.
MAY--No regular report; A cooking demonstration by Betty Crocker was held
in the town hall; One half the Club members served a lunch to the Business
Mens Club for which !17.50 was received; moved and carried to help finance
the band.
JUNE--Report from program committee; Agreed to decorate a float for
Fourth of July parade; Five dollars of the seven dollars donated to the
outstanding work of the 4H Club was paid to Eunice Daniels and Patricia Ryan;
Voted to dispense with meetings during July and August; Mrs. Norgaard of Buffalo
gave an interesting discussion of Prize books; Mrs. Lowe of Buffalo was a guest.
SEPTEMBER--Marion McDonald reported a successful food sale, twenty-five
dollars of which was for the Band, two dollars and ninety cents was donated to
Mr. Leraas to be used to purchase music; A prize was won on the Fourth of July
float; Mrs. Hill reported a bonus of eight dollars and fifty-five cents from
magazine subscriptions; A committee was appointed to make changes in the
Constitution; Membership was divided into three sections for the purpose of
raising money for the Club; The following were appointed chairmen: Mrs.
McDonald, Mrs. Sather, Mrs. Sawyer; Second lunch for Mens Business Club was
served from which ten dollars was received; For entertainment the 4H Club gave a
demonstration.
OCTOBER--Voted to donate $5.00 toward expenses of two 4H Club boys who
were entitled to attend a meeting in St. Louis; Eunice Daniels and Patricia Ryan
told about their trip to the 4H meeting at Agri. School; Mrs. Robert Lee gave an
interesting account of the activities of the Dome Club; the 4H Club put on a
display of their work for which prizes had been offered by committee in charge.
NOVEMBER--Mrs. Betsinger refunded $3.50 that was not used by the boys on
their trip to St. Louis; Library Board reported new books; Matter of more storm
windows was laid on the table; Report of the Home Talent play given Nov. 15;
sale of tickets amounted to $71.95 with the small expense of $14.60; Mrs.
Ferrell was guest speaker.
DECEMBER--Mrs. Norris reported purchase of two new books; The usual free
month at the library in the interest of Education Week was extended; Voted to
save coupons for Rap-in-wax; The ladies of the school faculty were entertained
at this meeting; new constitution was accepted; Voted to set aside at each
annual meeting a definite sum to be used by the Library Board each year; Voted
to fill Christmas baskets; Christmas readings were given by Mrs. Mortenson, a
sister of Mrs. Sather; Miss Kellogg of Minneapolis was a guest.
DECEMBER 7--Special Meeting--Commercial Club asked for money to help pay
Christmas expense, $3 was donated.
JANUARY--Voted to allow a waiting list to obtain new books; Mrs. G. Kurz
reported eleven baskets filled for Christmas donation; Carl Lundeen gave
very interesting moving pictures of the Ford Greenfield Village; Some members of
the Club gave papers on interesting topics.
FEBRUARY--Meeting held at Mrs. Ives home; It was dedicated to the
Founders of the Club; A splendid meeting in spite of the extremely cold weather;
Mrs. Ridgeway was the only charter member present and she was presented with a
red rose by Mary Bendix.
MARCH--This was a Conservation meeting with Mr. Munch of the state
Conservation Department as guest speaker; A good attendance; A special meeting
had been held to consider whether we should participate in the program to be
given at the Roosevelt Ball; No action taken; We come to the end of another
successful year; Balance on hand April 1,1935, $40.20; Receipts $183.34;
Disbursements $135.95; Balance $92.39 Cora F. Kurz, Secretary
