Improvement Club
Annandale Improvement Clubs Annual Report April 1, 1934 to April 1, 1935 Officers
The Improvement Club held ten regular meetings during the year, it having been voted to dispense with meetings in July and August. The Club purchased new books for the library to the amount of $37.79, and magazines to the amount of $16.50. Two sets of State Library books were sent for during the year and placed in the library for public use without charge. A ton of coal was purchased for the rest room. December was declared free month at the library and cards were issued free of charge during that month. Thirteen Christmas baskets were filled. The amount of $7 was set aside for the 4H Club girls, $5 to
be used for a trip to the Three dozen teaspoons were purchased for the club. The amount of $40 was donated for the maintenance of the band during the summer. A teachers reception was given in September. A float was entered in the 4th of July parade which took first prize. The Improvement Club met with the Buffalo Womans Club on May 3 and with the Maple Lake Federated Club on October 6. The movie, A program followed the business meeting each month after which a ten cent lunch was served. Mrs. HB Johnson, president of the 10th district
MFWC and Mrs. JJ Louis of In May the school children gave a program and Miss Allen gave papers on Adult Education. In October Mrs. MM Ferrell of Dr. GR Johnson gave an illustrated talk in November on The Care of Teeth. In December, Mrs. Daniels of Mrs. HN Swanson discussed childrens books and Mrs. Betsinger reviewed The Invincible Louisa, the Newbury Prize book for 1933 in January. In February Mr. Edward McAlpin of The 4 H club members gave a varied program in March. Respectfully submitted, Financial Report--- Receipts:
