ARTS COMMITTEE
MEETING NOTES
April 2 , 2009

Annandale Business Expo April 18th from 8 am 1 pm
A.C.T. will have 1 table - Wendy has put together last years pictures for the albums and has the concert flyers and Petals and Palate poster. The volunteer schedule for Arts members - Charlene, Wendy and Dawn can tag team and Mary Heinz can do the early shift.

Concerts in the Park A gentle reminder - if you (committee members) attend the summer concerts and can give Dawn and her family some assistance after the concerts are over, that would be very helpful. There is a lot of work in breaking down the stage and the more people who can lend a hand, the faster it can be done.

Act wants to partner with the Discover Downtown committee
To sponsor the entertainment for the Farmers Market. Right now, three bands are scheduled at an approximate cost of $250 300. We are also looking for committee members who might be able to volunteer to help coordinate chairs for the event. More to come on this.

Garden tour July 11th Ticket price will be $30
Need volunteers for prize donations and to hang posters. Please let me know if you are willing to help with this. The plan is to break it out by sections like we did last year so we can have more volunteers hitting up fewer business versus one or two people trying to do it all.

The ticket price was discussed and we realized that we the committee, need to remain firm when talking to folks who want to come last minute or garden owners/attendees who want to invite family members, friends etc and only pay for the meal. Regardless of who wants tickets, the price will be a firm $30. If people only want to have the meal, thats fine, but we need to remind them that this is a fundraiser and that is where the remainder of the ticket will be applied.

Artists at the gardens was also discussed. Susan brought up a point that there has never been real good building of relationships between the committee and the artists because the artists were always arranged outside of the committee. We have decided to take on the responsibility of working directly with the artists so they can feel more welcome and be given good direction so they can embrace this event as much as we do. Laura is working on a letter of inquiry and she will forward it on to Susan who will forward it on to see who is interested in doing it this year.
