ARTS COMMITTEE
MEETING NOTES
June 5 , 2008


 
1.  Discussed Stage Dedication:  Format will be introduction of the Community Band and announcements about Petals and Palate Garden Tour by Dawn Schaefer Stumpf.  After the 3rd song, we will pause the concert for the official stage dedication.  Laura Hood Beckman will invite Ken and Muriel to the microphone and say a few words she will also be acknowledging the generosity of the Harper Family foundation and Morgan Family Foundation who's significant contributions allowed the stage to be paid for well in advance of the plan.  both Ken and Muriel will have a chance to say a few words.  The concert will resume. 
Ken is anticipating that he will need 32 chairs for the band members.  We need to watch the weather.
A press release has been put in the paper.  Invitations were sent to Ken, his children, Muriel, her children and Jim's sister.  PTO will be selling refreshments at the concerts this summer.
   
2.  The Concert Series will be dedicated in memory of Sr. Aggie on June 27th.  We will discuss the format further at our next meeting June 19th at 6:30 p.m.
   
3.  The Petals and Palate Garden Tour is underway.  The letters have gone out to the garden owners:
   
     Bonnie and Ed Kelly,   Karen and Morris Paumen, Annie and Neil Korhonen, Sharon Gammel, Kay and Ron Brown and Fairhaven Farm.  Posters are available to pick up and post.  They are at The Snooty Fox Gallery.  Members should be placing the posters where you placed the concert posters.  Please make sure to collect your donated items for the Chance Baskets.
   
4.  It was decided by a vote of those present at the meeting to approve $300 to pay toward a Film License and $75 toward promotion of a Film Series that will begin in the fall and run throughout the year.  The film's will be shown in the High School Auditorium.  This will be tri-sponsored with PTO and Community Ed.
   
5.  We discussed the need to move forward on other auditorium performance opportunities.  Susan Hankerson volunteered to contact the director from Dassel/Cokato Arts to see if she will come to our July meeting.  It was decided that we will meet on Thursday July 17th at 6:30 p.m.  This will allow us to debrief the Petals and Palate Garden Tour and start focus on the Art Crawl.
   
6.  Holiday Home Tour Homes that are confirmed are:  Charlene Schaefer, Nancy Habel, Rosemary Bauer, Tom Macgregor (did I remember his name correctly?) and who am I forgetting Susan and Carol?  I have had discussions with Beryl Geisinger and Joanne Smith.
   
7.  OUR NEXT MEETING IS THURSDAY JUNE 19TH AT 6;30 P.M.      Please mark your calendars.  It will be held at Snooty Fox Gallery.
8..  Promote and sell Garden Tour Tickets.
