MEETING NOTES
June 21, 2007
1.
Concerts in the Park and Dancing in the Pavilion
Rustys Rockin Jamboree was the performance. It was a
beautiful evening and we had a pretty decent turnout considering it was
mostly for the kids.
After the concerts, there was dancing, dance lessons and music
requests in the Pavilion. Man oh man, was that joint jumpin. Tory
Schaefer was the D.J. spinning lots of swing music in the beginning. He
brought with him some of the cast members of the Guys & Dolls production
hes directing in
Reminder that the next Pavilion event Salsa in the
Park is July 27th after the Jayber Crow concert.
2.
Petals and
Questionnaires are coming back from the garden owners and most
interviews are over. The next step will be putting this information together
in the packet that will be given to the tourists. Wendy and Laura will try
to get this completed.
Laura will be contacting the garden owners to see if they want
to do a group tour on Friday evening July 6th. Ardis Nelson and
Sherry Sweetnam have volunteered to drive.
There may only be 5 gardens to tour instead of 6. Diane
Swanson (on Sylvia) had severe hail damage last week and the majority of her
blooming plants were depleted. We are waiting for her to confirm that she is
pulling out of this years event and hopefully she will be back for next
year. Here are the themes of the gardens:

Balfours.
o
Stumpfs
o
Laura and Sherry will be helping with the tablescapes and
centerpiece.
We heard that Betty Anderson mentioned that it might be fun
for some of the artists in her classes to be painters at the different
gardens. Laura is going to confirm with her whether this is a doable
situation and all artists are 100% in agreement. If so, well need to do
some bio sheets to include with the tourist packet. This will be the
additional perk of not having an extra garden this year.
We are still looking for donations from local business to use
in our chance drawings at Fairhaven Farms. If you can get prizes and need
donation receipts, please contact Wendy Webb (274-2745). We are working on
three themed chance baskets this year: Garden Theme, Wine and
Entertainment and the Its all about me basket, so keep that in mind
when asking for donations. Laura has the chance tickets.
Charlene Schaeffer has poster board and will start drawing
posters for the gardens but we are looking for volunteers to put the posters
together. (Charlene, I forgot to call you today but I have at least 20
different colors for poster board so let me know if you need me to drop them
off Wendy)
We will need at least 16 signs to put out for map directions
if Swansons participates. Less if they dont. Some will need to be
double sided. Wendy Webb asked Vicki Greene if she could lend us a few and
she said she could give us 6 more signs to use.
Laura has submitted press releases to the Advocate,
Please
spread the word and try to sell tickets!! Laura has them available at the
Snooty Fox.
Our next Arts & Culture meeting will be Thursday July 5th at 5:00 to tie up any loose ends of the Petals and Palate Event. Well be meeting at the Snooty Fox.
