ARTS & CULTURE
MEETING NOTES
October 13, 2004
October 13, 2004 Meeting Minutes
1. Received report of September Dinner Theater
Fundraising event: $1,000 was raised. The show was very entertaining and
the meal excellent.
2. Discussed grant-writing opportunities. A
sub-group has been formed led by Don Gadow to explore grantwriting options for
the Portable Performance Stage. Mike Z. will locate the stationary that
was printed for the Arts and Culture Group. Don will be taking a grant
writing class.
3. There will be a presentation by the Arts and Culture
Group to the Annandale City Council on Monday November 1 at 7 p.m. All
members are encouraged to attend to support this presentation. The
purpose of the presentation is to seek city support in purchasing the portable
performance stage from the city of Plymouth. The conditions of purchase
are $10,000 down, 3 years to pay the balance at zero interest. The city
of Annandale would need to sign a letter securing payment if the Arts and
Culture Group are unable to raise the balance owed. A handout will be
developed for the meeting.
4. Discussion took place regarding future fundraising
plans. The following categories were identified:
a. Events which would bring in money through
ticket sales or concession sales. We discussed a summer concert series
along with a "Back Yard BBQ" that would raise money toward the
stage. Charlene Schaefer will check on a spring /fall music event that
we may be able to tie in a silent auction.
b. Grantwriting. A sub-group has
been formed to pursue grants.
c. Raffles. The group determined
that raffle's should be in keeping with Arts and Culture interests. We
discussed a Quilt Raffle, Trip Raffle etc. as more related to the groups
purpose. Don Gadow and Charlene Schaefer will check into possible groups
that maybe interested in helping us with a quilt.
REMINDER: November 1 at the City Hall Council Chambers
7:00 p.m.
Next meeting thursday November 4 at 5:00 p.m. sharp at the
Snooty Fox Gallery. The meeting will conclude by 6:00p.m. due to the
Wright County Community Health Foundation Dinner at Reichels.
Respectfully Submitted,
